Before changing its name, Unaitas Sacco started as Murang’a Tea Growers Savings and Credit Cooperative Society and due to its expansion beyond the region, rebranded to Muramati sacco in 2007.
The main aim behind its formation was to pool resources together among members and create a financial basket where members could access affordable financial products.
The Sacco expanded its boundaries further to serve tea growers, salaried employees, and medium-sized entrepreneurs. It again changed its name in 2012 from Muramati Sacco and rebranded to Unaitas Sacco to once again become more inclusive thus expanding its branches.
